The Renegade Pantry began in 2009, when there was a massive cut to California Community College special needs programs, which led to a growing need among students. BCSGA responded to the needs of their constituents and developed the Renegade Pantry program. The Pantry’s main goal is to help maintain the health and welfare of Bakersfield College students through organized college, community sponsorships, and donations of non-perishable food items. Access to adequate food is basic human right, and the attendance of college should not forfeit this right.

➢ We believe all human beings should be treated with respect and dignity.
➢ We believe in the significance of outreach and education, not only for those who serve, but our entire community.
➢ We believe unity is key and that united we are stronger than if we remained apart.
➢ We believe the value of education is key to alleviating poverty within our communities, United States and globally.
The Pantry helps to aid any Bakersfield College enrolled student the following services:
➢ Fruits and Veggies Market
➢ Assistance in Finding Shelters
➢ Renegade Clothes Closet
➢ Hygiene Assistance
➢ Monthly Food Pantry Distribution

➢ Contribution Tables in the Community ➢ Low Cost Yard Sales
➢ Meat and Dairy Products
➢ Daily Bread Program
➢ Emergency Nutrition Distribution
The Renegade Pantry gladly accepts non-perishable/perishable food, hygiene items, clothing, blankets, toys, pet food, school/office supplies, and/or similar donations. Monetary donations can be dropped off at the Office of Student Life. You can also help by volunteering at The Pantry during distribution week or at other pantry events, such as bake sales or yard sales; sign-ups are in the Office of Student Life or online.
Here are some other ways that you can support the Renegade Pantry:
➢ Donate Plastic Bags
➢ Bring home hotel shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste, soaps, etc. from conferences or personal trips
➢ Clean out your kitchen pantry of any soon-to-expire items
➢ Clean out your closet of clothing or shoes you don’t wear anymore
➢ Have a class competition/project in your department to bring in non-perishable items (which class can get the most
items donated)
➢ Talk to other family and friends regarding their donations to the Pantry
➢ Connect local businesses to the Pantry
➢ Volunteer in the Pantry during events and community outreach programs

As a service to students seeking off-campus housing, the Office of Student Life maintains a listing of apartments and rooms for rent. Student Life does not endorse any listings; however, both landlords and students are expected to live up to their respective obligations. These listings describe the facilities being offered and other pertinent information. Students interested in further additional information must visit the Office of Student Life.
On-Campus Posting
Posting of literature refers to any handbill, newspaper, pamphlet, circular, placard, poster, booklet or book that is machine- printed, typed, duplicated, or handwritten or printed on paper, cloth, or other material and is handed out, placed in areas for easy pick-up, placed on tables or displayed by posting on bulletin boards or walls. Symbolic insignia refers to any button, badge, armband, article of clothing, or other insignia or symbolic expression that may be worn or displayed by a person to symbolize a student’s commitment to a belief in any legal cause, idea, or philosophy. The California Education Code prohibits advertising on campus by off-campus or commercial interest without approval. Students shall be allowed to distribute and display literature and to exhibit symbolic insignia subject to specific limitations.
