                BUILDING A BETTER BC

In November of 2016, Kern County citizens voted to pass Measure J, a $502 million bond that open the door to funding for needed improvements on the Bakersfield College Campus. These funds, along with additional state grants, will transform the existing campus and move the learning environment into the 21st Century and beyond.
BC’s enrollment is larger than it has ever been with over 37,000 students, which is quite a bit larger than the 3,000 students it originally served in 1956 upon the opening of the Panorama Drive campus. Measure J will bring modernizations to ensure that the facilities and technologies align with Bakersfield College’s innovative educational pathways. BC has a strong commitment to and has made significant progress toward achieving success for all students, and the new Measure J projects will help facilitate this success.
With will be a total of 14 projects taking place on the Bakersfield College Panorama campus alone over the next five years, the physical representation of the campus will reflect what has always been at its core: a place committed to change, modernization, and innovation. We are so excited to take this journey with our students, staff, faculty, and the Bakersfield community!
