Greetings BCS Scholars and Families,
Prevention Services
We will continue to support students that are currently seeing our prevention specialists by conducting bi-weekly phone calls to scholars and families.
Mental Health Services
Mental Health Services for students currently seeing a therapist or psychiatrist with one of our contracted agencies will continue via Telehealth. If you have not heard from your provider, please contact Courtney Nelson at 205-400-3440
New Referrals for Support Services
All new referrals for support services will be conducted online by your child's school. To have your student receive support for either prevention services or mental health please contact your child's local school.
Online Resources
To access free online resources for families wanting to enhance social emotional learning skills while remote learning continues please visit the BCS website under "Corona Virus" then "Enrichment resources"
Online Social Emotional Platform Coming Soon!
More information is forthcoming to scholars and families regarding a free online social emotional learning platform. You will receive login information and from there will be able to access a number of family guided lessons related to social, emotional and mental health. Stay tuned for more information.
We hope that everyone is safe and doing well during these unprecedented times. We wanted to reach out to let each of you know that there will be ongoing resources available in the area of social emotional learning during our remote learning time.
It is extremely important in times like these that we remember to take care of our mental health and overall well-being. In order to assist our scholars and their families with this endeavor the department of social emotional learning will continue providing free resources and services.
We wish you all the very best and hope you remember that we are here to support you in maintaining your social and emotional well-being as we face these difficult times together.
