                  Greetings,
This is the 19th edition of our BCS FACE Parent planner. I pen this letter with a sense of accomplishment and sadness. It has been a labor of love compiling this booklet for the last nineteen years. In the year of Covid-19 pandemic none of us knows what education will look like down the road. One thing we can rest assured of, there will be children to educate. Maybe differently, but we do have a “charge to keep—to educate this present age”.
I began my career in Birmingham City Schools in 1977. As an educator in this district I have had the privilege to partner with at least four generations of families. I am extremely fortunate to have worked with some of the best families in the world. I say this with all sincerity, Birmingham City Schools is committed to providing a quality education for your children as we face the challenges before us.
Be mindful, change is a part of life. As our district embarks on the path to redefine how we prepare your children for the future; I challenge you to work with our administrators, teachers and support staff as the district embarks upon transforming how we instruct your children and prepare them to be productive members of society.
The BCS Team that compiled this year’s planner has included a wealth of information and resources which we hope will assist you throughout the year.
Thank you for being a part of my village as I go into a new season of life. Always be your child’s “SUPER HERO”. Continue to collaborate with their school and be their number one advocate.
For Such A Time as This.
Sincerely,
Mechelle Rice Fields, Coordinator
