OTHER TIMES TO MEET WITH AN ADVISOR
In addition to meeting with an advisor to plan your schedule for the coming semester, you should schedule an advising appointment to discuss:
• Your progress toward your degree
• Difficulties you are having with your
current courses
• Adding or dropping a course
• How to plan for transferring to
another college or university
• What you need to do to graduate • Balancing school with the other
demands on your time
New Student Orientation
All first-year Sandburg students participate in Charge Up! New Student Orientation prior to the start of their first semester. Orientation is a 3.5-hour session that covers a comprehensive technology check of the student portal, an interactive tour to locate classrooms and key areas of campus and an in-depth discussion about classroom expectations and other important information to know before classes begin. Students will also receive their student ID. For more information, contact the Office of Student Life at 309.341.5332. Branch campus, 217.357.3129, ext. 0.
Financial Aid
Sandburg offers a variety of resources to help students fund your education. For more information, we invite you to review our website at www.sandburg.edu/ Finaid, or contact us at 309.341.5283. We encourage all students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Student Planner
Student Planner software keeps students on track to complete their degree or certificate. Advisors and students meet to select classes and assign them to semesters on the Timeline. Before registration, advisors and students finalize and approve class sections in the Course Plan Calendar. Once advisors approve the sections, students may register themselves when registration opens.
