Compton College has a strong commitment to the promotion of intercollegiate athletics, on campus and in our community. We have an outstanding coaching staff, administration, faculty and support staff in place to ensure your success as a student- athlete.
We offer the following competitive intercollegiate sports: • Badminton(women)
• Baseball(men)
• Basketball(menandwomen)
• Football(men)
• Softball(women)
• Soccer(men&women)
• Track&Field(men&women)
At Compton College, we place great emphasis on academics and encourage students to have the same focus in the classroom as they do in athletic competition. Student- athletes have the responsibility of working toward an educational or vocational goal, as well as their athletic goals. There is life after college athletics, and the Compton College athletic department has chosen to focus its attention on student academic success as well as athletic success. We want our students to be successful people and contributing members of our campus and our community. The coaches at Compton College also help prepare students for scholarship and transfer opportunities to four-year colleges and universities.
Students are eligible to compete in intercollegiate athletics only if they are Compton College students, pass a physical examination, are currently enrolled in at least 12 units (nine of which must be academic), and sign and adhere to the student-athlete Code of Conduct. Eligibility is also verified by high school graduation, residence and academic success. The final authority for all eligibility is the dean of student services.
The Compton College Tartar Athletics program operates under the California Community College Athletic Association, and is a member of the South Coast Athletic Conference and the American Metro Football Conference.
Compton College has had a long-standing history of fielding competitive athletic programs, and it is our hope that with your decision to participate, we will continue that history. On behalf of the Athletic Department, we wish you an enjoyable and rewarding
