                 SYSTEM LEVEL INFORMATION General Information
Hall County high schools currently operate on a seven period schedule. Each student has the possibility of earning a minimum of seven credits each year.
ACCELERATED CAREER DIPLOMA
Georgia State Law has established a non-traditional graduation path that allows high school students the ability to earn a high school diploma with a reduced number of required high school classes. Students are required to earn 23 credits to graduate with a traditional diploma. The Accelerated Career Diploma offers an alternative path by requiring students earn a total (1) nine specific credits in high school and (2) two technical certificates of credit (TCC), one technical diploma, or an associate’s degree through the dual enrollment program.
The Accelerated Career Diploma requires a student to have a definite plan for his or her future. It also requires a solid work ethic and willingness to pass classes at the high school and college. A student pursuing the Accelerated Career Diploma is required to work closely with the high school counselor. Only students who have firm plans for career goals should consider the diploma option. Please see your high school counselor if interested or a College & Career Coordinator for Dual Enrollment if interested.
ADDITIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES IN HIGH SCHOOL
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
The goal of the ESOL program is to provide an opportunity for a student whose primary or home language is other than English (PHLOTE) to acquire social and academic language proficiency while continuing to learn academic content. Schools identify PHLOTE students and administer the WIDA screener to determine the student’s level of English proficiency and need for language assistance. Students whose test scores indicate limited English proficiency are served through the ESOL programs.
Extended Instructional Programs
High School summer classes are available for initial credit or credit recovery at all high school campuses. All courses are offered through Edgenuity, a program that utilizes self- paced, online courses that can be completed at school or at-home.
Lanier College and Career Academy
LCCA is an accredited College and Career Academy and offers all courses required for a high school diploma as well as Dual Enrollment courses in partnership with Lanier Technical College. Classes are held Monday thru Friday from 8:55-2:30. Students may attend classes as a full-time student or elect to attend only part-time to take advantage of a Career Ready Program. Transportation from the other Hall County high schools is provided. Students with proper licensure and insurance may purchase a parking pass for a small fee.
Career technology classes are offered in several areas and all students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to be enrolled in one of the many pathways or Dual Enrollment programs offered. These areas include:
