assist.org What is ASSIST?
ASSIST (Articulation System Stimulating Interinstitutional Student Transfer) is a web- based student transfer information system which contains data about how courses taken at a California community college can be applied when transferred to a University of California or a California State University campus. It is the official source for California articulation and student transfer information.
Students have the following options to select from:
• UC Transferable Courses
Lists all 116 California community colleges’ courses that are transferable to nine University of California campuses.
• CSU Transferable Courses
Lists all 116 California community colleges’ courses that are transferable to 23 California State University campuses.
• CSU GE-Breadth Certification Courses
Students are required to complete 39 units of lower-division general education. This feature lists courses from each of the California community colleges that can be used to satisfy CSU GE Breadth requirements.
• IGETC (Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum) Certification Courses
Students will be completing about 40 units of the required general education courses by following this pattern. This allows students to view courses from a specific community college that apply to the IGETC requirements.
• Articulation Agreements between all public California institutions (UC, CSU, community colleges)
These are agreements between a particular community college and a 4- year institution identifying comparable lower division major requirements, in addition to department-by-department equivalencies.
What are the benefits of using ASSIST?
• Provides accurate and up-to-date CSU GE Breadth and IGETC patterns, course equivalencies and major requirements for all California community colleges, CSU and UC.
• Great tool to use if students have attended several community colleges or have attended a CSU or UC previously.
• Provides the “Exploring Major” feature that students can use to explore majors offered at UC and CSU campuses.
