A Message from the President
Welcome to Merritt College!
On behalf of the Merritt College faculty, staff and administrators, thank
you for making Merritt College the College of your choice. We welcome
you and look forward to providing you with the knowledge, skills and
tools you need to obtain your educational, professional and personal
goals this 2017-2018 academic year and beyond.
While at Merritt College you will learn from knowledgeable, highly qualified and caring
faculty. You will receive useful and effective library, tutorial, counseling, student health,
transfer, and financial aid services; just to mention a few. You will participate in Associated
Student Government of Merritt College (ASMC), athletics, a variety of outstanding
student organizations, exciting student activities, and volunteer programs. You will have
the opportunity to quick start or reengineer a career, transfer to a four-year university,
complete a certificate program, participate in an employer internship, and/or earn a degree.
This Student Handbook is a perfect example of a useful tool that will help you navigate
your way through this academic year and closer to your goals. Read through it and refer
to it often. It not only explains Merritt College programs, services, and activities, but also
includes the office hours, locations and phone numbers of specific contact persons and
departments. It describes the expectations the College has of you and what your rights and
responsibilities are.
Remember, you now belong to a caring campus community. Merritt College is determined
