Cal Grant
The Cal Grant is a state funded awarded to selected eligible students. Cal Grant recipients are selected by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC). To apply for the Cal Grant Program student must submit their FAFSA or Dream Act application and a Cal Grant GPA Verification Form to CSAC by the March 2nd priority deadline. If you do not meet the March 2nd priority deadline, you may have a second chance to compete for a Cal Grant award by submitting the GPA Verification Form by September 2nd. San Bernardino Valley College participates in the Cal Grant B and C awards.
Cal Grant B assists low-income students attending community colleges with living expenses and books. The maximum award for the 2018/2019 award year is $1,670.
Cal Grant C assists students with tuition and training costs for technical, occupational, vocational or career training programs. The maximum award for the 2018/2019 award year is $1,094 for books, tools and equipment. Funding is available for up to two years, depending on the length of the program. To qualify, students must be enrolled in an occupational, technical or vocational program that is at least four months long at a California Community College. California Chafee Grant
The California Chafee Grant provides up to $5,000 per year for eligible students who are current or former foster youth to use for career and technical training or college courses. For more information on the CHAFEE grant program visit www.chafee.csac.ca.gov
Student Success Completion Grant
The new Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG) program, FORMERLY Full-Time Student Success Grant (FTSSG) AND California College Completion Grant (CCCG) for full-time Cal Grant B and C recipients at California Community Colleges.
The maximum annual award for the Student Success Completion Grant is $4000.00. Due to limited funding, the Student Success Completion Grant is refunded on a first come first serve basis. Receiving a SSCG award does not guarantee a refund. Funds are limited!
