At Southwestern Community College, we are committed to providing full and equal access for all students with disabilities. SCC offers appropriate support to reduce physical, instructional and attitudinal barriers while promoting student independence and self-advocacy.

What assistance is available?
Services and accommodations are designed to level the playing field, promote retention and support academic success. The Student Disability Services (SDS) Coordinator works collaboratively with students to determine appropriate and reasonable accommodations that may include (but are not limited to):
 Services are available for students with disabilities of a temporary or permanent nature that substantially limit their ability to fully participate in the learning process. Disabilities include (but are not limited to):
• Learning Disabilities •
• Classroom adjustments or modifications to remove architectural barriers
• Alternative testing arrangements (extended time, private setting, assistive
technology)
• Screen-reading software
(Read&Write, ZoomText, JAWS) • Note-taker or recording device
• Sign language interpreters
• Assistive technology equipment
(Smartpens, ReaderPens, calculators) • Assistive listening devices (Roger Pen
FM System)
