ADMISSIONS/ENROLLMENT
Readmission
A student who has NOT been enrolled at the college for the previous two semesters must complete an Application for Admission and update residency clas- si cation prior to registration. Students applying for readmission will be required
to meet the curriculum requirements in effect at the time of readmission, unless waived by the Executive Vice President for Instruction and Student Services. The college reserves the right to refuse readmission to a former student who has unpaid nancial obligations at the college or who has not complied with previous disciplin- ary requirements.
REGISTRATION
Registration dates are published in the academic calendar and procedures are printed in the student handbook. Students are strongly encouraged to register as early as possible to secure the courses they need to progress in their programs.
Final Registration Day
Final registration is held each semester on the day published in the academic cal- endar. Students not enrolled for two or more consecutive semesters must reapply by completing an Application for Admission before meeting with their assigned academic advisors to initiate the registration process.
Schedule Adjustment
The add/drop period is de ned in the academic calendar. Schedule changes are permitted during this time without grade penalty and are made on the “Add/Drop/With- drawal Form.”
Late registration occurs during the ve-day drop/add period that begins with the rst day of classes for the semester or term. Registrations and drops or adds after the end of the late registration and drop/add period must be approved by the appropriate dean.
Transfer of Earned Credit
Applicants to degree, diploma or certi cate programs who want credit for coursework completed at other post-secondary institutions are responsible for having an of cial transcript from each institution submitted directly to the Registrar’s Of ce. Courses with a grade of “C” or higher may be accepted if the courses are applicable to the program selected at this college and were earned at a regionally accredited college, university, community college or technical institute.
Credits transferred to Southwestern Community College from another institu- tion will be recognized as hours toward the appropriate degree, diploma or certi cate but will not be calculated toward the cumulative grade point average (GPA) for that program. All of cial transcripts submitted to the Registrar’s Of ce prior to a student’s enrollment will be evaluated for transfer credit before registration, if possible, and
no later than the end of the rst semester of enrollment. All transcripts from other institutions become the property of Southwestern Community College and cannot be returned or reissued.
Transfer of “Credit by Exam” will not exceed more than one-half of degree requirements and must be approved by the dean or coordinator of the appropriate program.
