OST 286 Professional Development (3-0-3)
This course covers the personal competencies and qualities needed to project a professional image in the of ce. Topics include interpersonal skills, health lifestyles, appearance, attitude, personal and professional growth, multicultural awareness, and professional etiquette. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate these attributes in the classroom, of ce, and society.
OST 288 Medical Of ce Administration Capstone (2-2-3)
Prerequisite: OST 148
This course is designed to be a capstone course for the medical of ce professional and
provides a working knowledge of medical of ce procedures. Emphasis is placed on written and oral communication skills, practice management, electronic health records, medical of ce procedures, ethics, and professional development. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to manage a medical of ce.
OST 289 Of ce Administration Capstone (2-2-3)
Prerequisites: OST 164 and OST 136
This course is designed to be a capstone course for the of ce professional and provides a
working knowledge of administrative of ce procedures. Emphasis is placed on written and oral communication skills, of ce software applications, of ce procedures, ethics, and professional development. Upon completion, students should be able to adapt in an of ce environment.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
OTA 110 Fundamentals of OT (2-3-3) Corequisite: BIO 168
This course introduces occupational therapy theory, practice, philosophy, and principles. Emphasis is placed on providing a basic understanding of the profession as well as beginning to develop interaction and observation skills. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate basic understanding of the domain and practice of occupational therapy, practice settings and professional roles, OT terminology, activity analysis, principles, process, philosophies, and frames of reference.
OTA 120 OTA Media I (1-3-2)
Corequisite: OTA 110
This course provides training in recognizing the therapeutic value and use of a wide variety
of human occupations including basic activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, rest and sleep, education, work, play, leisure, and social participation. Topics include the understanding of different teaching and learning methods and styles, the language of occupational therapy (OT), OT interventions including preparatory methods and tasks, and restorative and compensatory techniques. Upon completion, students should be able to ana- lyze, design, select, and safely perform occupation related activities that would be therapeutic for various populations across the lifespan.
