SPA 112 Elementary Spanish II (3-0-3)
Prerequisite: SPA 111
This course is a continuation of SPA 111 focusing on the fundamental elements of the Span-
ish language within a cultural context. Emphasis is placed on the progressive development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and respond with increasing pro ciency to spoken and written Spanish and demonstrate further cultural awareness. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Humanities/Fine Arts.
Note: Elementary foreign language courses are secondary humanities courses; they will not count as the sole humanities selection in an AAS degree program.
SPA 181 Spanish Lab I (0-2-1)
Prerequisite: College-ready English Placement
This course provides an opportunity to enhance acquisition of the fundamental elements of
the Spanish language. Emphasis is placed on the progressive development of basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through the use of various supplementary learning media and materials. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and respond with grammatical accuracy to spoken and written Spanish and demonstrate cultural awareness. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
SPA 182 Spanish Lab II (0-2-1)
Prerequisite: SPA 111
This course provides an opportunity to enhance acquisition of the fundamental elements of
the Spanish language. Emphasis is placed on the progressive development of basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through the use of various supplementary learning media and materials. SPA 211 Intermediate Spanish I (3-0-3)
Prerequisite: SPA 112
This course provides a review and expansion of the essential skills of the Spanish language.
Emphasis is placed on the study of authentic and representative literary and cultural texts. Upon completion, students should be able to communicate effectively, accurately, and cre- atively about the past, present, and future. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Humanities/Fine Arts.
SPA 212 Intermediate Spanish II (3-0-3)
Prerequisite: SPA 211
This course provides a continuation of SPA 211. Emphasis is placed on the continuing
study of authentic and representative literary and cultural texts. Upon completion, students should be able to communicate spontaneously and accurately with increasing complexity and sophistication. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Humanities/Fine Arts.
