SAFE TEAM – TAMPA CAMPUS
MISSION STATEMENT
SAFE Team is dedicated to providing a heightened level of safety on the Tampa campus at the University of South Florida. We provide this service by constantly patrolling sectors of campus in order to deter crime, offering safe escorts to students and staff, and working in conjunction with local figures to provide the SAFE Ride service to students. SAFE Team is directly supervised by University Police and Student Government.
SERVICES
SAFE Team Escort: A SAFE Team escort is a team of two ground field staff either on a golf cart or a walking team that will accompany a number of students, faculty, or staff from one location on the Tampa campus to another. SAFE Team only services on-campus locations (although they can escort to the edge of campus).
Information Needed: Name, Number of riders (typically 1 or 2), Your location, and Destination
Disclaimer: If the wait time for a SAFE Team escort exceeds operating hours, we must deny your request for an escort. The Dispatcher also reserves the right to deny escorts if they believe the caller may be a threat to them or the teams working that night. Students will be advised if weather conditions, or any other circumstances impede SAFE Team operations.
SAFE Ride: SAFE Team also offers students safe rides home through UBER once a month for free. Students are offered a voucher that can be redeemed in the UBER app and utilized to ensure safe ways home in any situation. This program is offered to Tampa campus students. Disclaimer: Vouchers are limited and may run out before the end of the month. In case of emergencies, students should always call 911.
