Welcome to Victor Valley College! We are so glad you have decided to invest in yourself. Success can be yours. We believe that with desire and effort you can accomplish your goals and we are here to support you along the way.
This handbook provides you with information, resources, and access to the many free supports available to you. Start with career exploration https://www.vvc.edu/personal-and-career-development-resources. Think about what you enjoy and what you are good at. What kind of life do you want for yourself? Who do you want to be? At VVC you can discover how to start on your personal journey.
Take time to review the Table of Contents. Keep this planner with you so this information will be available whenever needed. Your college experience is a shared responsibility. We are here to teach you, to help you learn, and to support you. Your responsibility is to be your best; follow-through, attend class, pay attention, ask questions, and use resources. Also get to know other students, visit the SAC, and study with others in the Library or ATC. There are clubs and organizations, and an award winning ASB Leadership program. (If you aren’t sure what SAC, ATC or ASB are – check out the College Terms to Know on pg. 19.) Make your college experience yours! Be intentional about making it best for you.
Inside the cover fold-out is a plan outline to guide you toward success within 60 units for most degrees; some certificates require fewer units. Meet with your counselor, confirm your educational plan, do well in your classes, and check-off the touchpoints each semester -- you will reach your graduation goal(s) before you know it.
Behind the final tab is a Planning Calendar which is useful for keeping track of assignments, tests, and other obligations. You are in charge of your educational experience. We look forward to seeing you around campus and at your graduation. Go Rams!
