MONTHLY “TO DO” CHECKLIST
JULY/AUGUST
BEFORE CLASSES BEGIN:
☐ Check your account balance to make sure you have a zero or credit balance by the fee payment deadline (August 18)
TN Promise student? Must report community service hours by July 1
☐
☐ Check with the Admissions Office to make sure your admissions file is
complete
☐ Check your financial aid status on My WS frequently
☐ Check your schedule on My WS to make sure your courses are at the
correct day/time, campus location, etc.
Also, make sure that none of your classes have been cancelled

☐ Familiarize yourself with the college catalog. There are many important
student policies that apply to you!
☐ Find the catalog on our website at http://catalog.ws.edu.
☐ If you are receiving a balance from your financial aid, set up direct deposit
on your My WS account
☐ Purchase textbooks: Find what textbooks you need at
http://www.ws.edu/student-services/bookstore/
☐ Orient yourself with campus. Visit campus and find your classrooms
before classes begin and be aware of the location of student services, the cafeteria, and other places of interest on campus. View maps for all campuses at http://www.ws.edu/campuses/.
WHEN CLASSES BEGIN:
☐ August 22: Fall classes begin
☐ Check your eLEARN through your My WS account immediately for course
information
☐ Attend/engage in all of your classes and make sure your
attendance/engagement in classes is updated correctly on My WS
☐ Read your class syllabus! You will receive a course syllabus in each
class that has important information about the course, test dates, assignment due dates, and instructor contact information.
During the first week of classes, make any drop/add schedule adjustments to your schedule, if necessary
☐ If adjusting your schedule during the first week of class, be sure to
check with Financial Aid before adding or dropping any courses and
check your account balance
Get organized. Use your student planner, designate specific study times, and organize your school supplies
