for daytime assistance during the summer semester. The Writing Center is located in the

General Information
Attendance
Western Nebraska Community College expects students to attend every meeting of the
classes in which they are enrolled. Class attendance is essential to academic success.
The College’s general attendance policy is as follows:
“When the number of 50-minute periods of absences equals the number of credits of
the course, the instructor notifies the student and Student Services in writing. Authorized
absences due to direct involvement in College-sponsored activities are excluded. After
one more absence, the student is dropped from the course. The instructor informs the
student and Student Services of this action in writing.”
Instructors may use the above stated policy or one that is more lenient. It is the
responsibility of the instructor to inform students of any attendance policy, which
is implemented. Most instructors outline their attendance policies in their course
requirements. It is the student’s responsibility to understand and follow the instructor’s
attendance policy.
Cancellation of Classes/Campus Closures
In order to have a consistent procedure to notify all students, faculty, and staff with
regard to any cancellation of day and/or night classes on the campus, an administrative
decision is made, if at all possible prior to 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. In Scottsbluff, the area media,
(KMOR, KNEB, and KDUH-TV) are notified and asked to make the announcement
within the 7 to 8 a.m. newscast and the 5 to 6 p.m. newscast. Listen to one of these
stations for notification of cancellation. For cancellations in Sidney, listen to KSID radio,
1340 AM/98.7 FM. In Alliance, students should tune to KCOW 1400 AM.
