P. 13
All vehicles parked on Bakersfield College campuses must abide by all Parking and Traffic Rules and Regulations. Vehicles may be issued citations for illegal parking, failure to display a valid parking permit, or any other violation including California Vehicle Code violation. All vehicles parked on the Bakersfield College campuses must display a current semester parking permit or daily parking permit on the lower driver side windshield in a clearly visible manner. Semester permits are purchased online or at Business Office. Daily parking permits may also be purchased from any kiosks in the parking lots or in Business Services.
Permit Replacement
If a vehicle is sold or change of ownership occurs, the permit should be removed and placed on the new vehicle. Damaged or malfunctioning permits should be returned to DPS. Authorization for a replacement permit will be granted for stolen permits upon completion of a police report. A processing fee will be charged. Replacement authorization is not granted for stolen permits unless a police report is made within 24 hours of the date of loss. Authorization is subject to approval by DPS.
Guest Parking
Guest Parking Permits may be issued in advance by the Department of Public Safety. They can also be obtained at the Office of Student Life in Levinson Hall. Guest Parking Permits must be displayed on the driver’s side front dashboard, visible from the outside of the vehicle. Guest permits are not valid in reserved or metered stalls. Tampering with Guests permits will result in invalidating the permit and the vehicle will be subject to a citation for parking without a valid permit.
Handicapped Parking
While displaying a valid handicapped permit you do not need a student permit to park in a handicapped parking stall or in any timed area without a time limit imposed upon you. If all handicapped parking stalls are full, you may park in any student or staff parking lot by displaying a valid student parking permit and a valid handicapped placard issued to you. Misuse of a handicapped placard will result in a fine of $275.00, along with the handicapped placard being confiscated and returned to the DMV with a copy of a report detailing the misuse. You may be subject to Student Code of Conduct Violations as well.
Towing of Vehicle for Outstanding Parking Violations
If you receive more than five parking citations that are all outstanding (fines not paid) your vehicle may be towed away at your own expense. You will be responsible for all towing fees, storage fees and all parking fines will need to be paid before the vehicle is released back into your custody
