The goal of the Student Health and Wellness Center is to help students persist and succeed by supporting a state of optimum health, both mental and physical. To this end, we offer currently enrolled students who have paid the Student Health Fee:
➢ First Aid
➢ Self-served over-the-counter medications
➢ Condoms (unlimited access under The Condom Access Project)
➢ TB skin testing and risk screening as appropriate. Blood testing can be ordered but are not covered by the Student
Health Fee.
➢ Flu vaccine in season (call in advance for an appointment)
➢ Wellness coaching and literature
➢ Reproductive health counseling and prescription contraceptives including the prescription “morning after’
emergency contraceptive ELLA
➢ Sexually Transmitted Diseases can be tested but testing is not covered by the Student Health Fee
➢ Tobacco cessation aids excluding nicotine gum, lozenges, and patches. FDA approved prescription medication can
be prescribed if in conjunction with cessation counseling
➢ Weight and Body Mass Index (BMI)
➢ Blood Pressure Screening
➢ Blood Glucose Screening
➢ Counseling is available by licensed staff on a self-referral basis up to a maximum of six (6) visits per semester.
➢ Medical care is provided by a Family Nurse Practitioner for Wellness Exams and Limited Urgent Care needs also
up to a maximum of six (6) visits per semester.
➢ Problem related medical testing and problem related prescriptions can be ordered but are not covered by your
Student Health Fee; hormonal contraception included.
There is no Medical Doctor on duty, and we are unable to refill long-term medications or manage chronic conditions including but not limited to hypertension and diabetes. Health insurance is not available, and we do not bill any insurance that you may have. However, if you are injured on campus, you will be referred to the Student Health and Wellness Center or Urgent/ Emergency care as appropriate for evaluation. In the event of an emergency immediately contact Public Safety (395-4554) and/or call 911; do not call the Student Health Center. For Student Workers, notify your supervisor of any work-related injury so that you can be properly cared for.
