Dear Carleton Students,
On behalf of the Office of the Dean of
Students, please accept our warm welcome to
all new and returning students. We are proud
that you chose to be part of a talented
community that strongly believes in a
residential liberal arts education where hard
work, intellectual growth, and personal
transformation is expected.
Just as we will make a difference in your life,
we hope you will make a difference in ours.
We are committed to offering you a range of
programs and services that prepare you for success. Your days on campus will
be filled with new and unfamiliar items as you get to know your professors,
staff, your fellow students, the campus, and the city. Because there are so many
exciting and fulfilling initiatives taking place at Carleton, we want to ensure that
you know how to locate the wide variety of resources available to you and that
you are aware of and have easy access to the policies and regulations that pertain
to you as a student.
The
Lagniappe
is intended as a resource to acquaint you with Carleton. In these
pages, you will find descriptions of the many available programs and services.
As part of a talented student body, seizing opportunities to participate in these
programs and services is one of the greatest advantages and joys of being a Carl.
I am looking forward to attending and participating in student initiated programs
and events throughout the year, so that I have opportunities to hear about your
experiences at Carleton.
I really do urge you to use your time at Carleton to learn about yourself and
others, create and explore longstanding interests, find new passions, plunge into
new activities and discover new perspectives. Again, welcome to Carleton and I
wish you the best in the coming year. Thanks for choosing us.
Sincerely,
Carolyn H. Livingston, Ph.D.
Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students
