Association (SGA) is to provide Coastal Carolina University students with representation, services and advocacy within the Coastal Carolina University community. The SGA serves as the voice
of the students and acts as a conduit between the students, administration, faculty and the alumni. Students can join as a senator from their academic college or at-large members. Elections are held each spring semester for executive officers and upperclassmen senators. Freshman elections are held each Fall semester.
 OFFICE OF STUDENT LIFE
I like doing community service. What opportunities are available to me? Within the Office of Student Life, we have civic engagement specialists who work to connect students with more than 60 local community partners that fill every niche. In addition, we offer a week-long service trip at least once a year for interested students.
The Office of Student Life offers many opportunities for students to learn and/ or fine tune their leadership skills. Each year, the office offers a weekend-long conference for any student, as well as longer term programs for students based on their academic year. Information about all programs are emailed out.
In addition, the CCU Food Pantry is managed by our Civic Engagement team. If you are ever in need of food, please do not hesitate to stop by. This is a free, no- questions-asked service.
How can I learn to be a better leader?
I am interested in joining at fraternity or sorority. How do I do that?
The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life which is housed in the Office of Student Life advises 15+ social fraternities and sororities from four different councils. Each council has different joining processes. If you are interested in a Panhellenic Conference or Interfraternity Council (IFC) chapter, a formal recruitment is held once or twice a year, and all prospective members must register in advance. If you are interested in a chapter governed by the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) or National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO), you are encouraged to look for flyers around campus or on social media to find out when their interest meetings will be held. For a full list of FAQ, visit our website at coastal.edu/osl/greek.
What is the Student Government Association?
The mission of the Student Government
I hear getting involved is important. Why and how do I go about doing so? Yes, it is very important to get involved on campus. Research shows that students who are involved on campus are more likely to stay at the school and have a higher GPA. Coastal offers more than
250 organizations with an array of focus areas. Check out all of the organizations on Coastal Connections (coastal.collegiatelink.net).
