Counseling Services
Being successful in college isn’t just a matter of performing well in the classroom. Sandburg students routinely balance the conflicting demands of family, work and life events with the demands of college. These challenges can quickly become overwhelming. The counseling staff at Sandburg offers students confidential support and guidance from an approachable staff of trained professionals. In most cases, students get the help they need in one or two visits, but more time is available if needed. The counseling staff is also experienced with the process of referring students when help from an outside agency is needed.
Sandburg counselors are available to discuss issues including anxiety, depression, sexual assault, domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders and gender identity issues among many more. No matter the size of your concerns, the Sandburg counseling staff is there for you. To make an appointment with a counselor, call or stop by Student Services: Galesburg 309.341.5237, Carthage 217.357.3129.
CAREER COUNSELING SERVICES
Choosing a career and an appropriate college major can be daunting. Recent high school graduates are sometimes reluctant to commit to a major (and a career) for which they have little or no practical experience to support their decision. Some prefer to delay their decision because they’re confident that better options will surface over time, while others worry whether their career choice will result in employment in their profession after they graduate.
Each of these concerns are valid and relatively common. The good news is
that help is available to Sandburg students for the asking. The Sandburg career counseling staff can address your concerns and help you to feel confident about the career path that you choose. Individual career counseling appointments are available by appointment and through Skype. Galesburg 309.341.5237, Carthage 217.357.3129.
