BECOMING A CHARGER 8 Meet with an academic advisor Each term, prior to registration, you’ll schedule a meeting with your success advocate/advisor to discuss courses for the upcoming semester. Your success advocate/advisor, assigned based on your degree or program, will help you stay updated on program requirements, graduation requirements and transfer coursework. Early registration gives you more scheduling options. Watch for registration notices, and make your appointment early to avoid significant wait times. Other times to meet with an advisor In addition to meeting with your advisor to plan your classes, schedule an advising appointment to discuss: • Progress toward meeting your degree requirements • Difficulties with your current courses • Adding or dropping a course Registering for classes • How to plan for transferring to another college or university • What you need to do to graduate • Balancing school with the other demands on your time If you’re a new student, you must complete the steps to enroll prior to meeting with your assigned advisor. If you’re a current student, you can meet with your success advocate/advisor to register for courses for the upcoming semester. Student Planner software Student Planner software helps you stay on track to complete your degree or certificate. Success advocates/advisors and students meet to select and assign classes to semesters on the timeline. Before registration, success advocates/advisors and students finalize and approve class sections in the course plan calendar. Once advisors approve the sections, you may register once registration opens. Self-service student site mySandburg is your primary link to access your personal student account information. Use the self-service link for billing, financial aid status, to view grades and request transcripts. Other tiles provide access to email, Office365, Moodle courses, Starfish and more. mySandburg login: • Go to: sandburg.edu. • Click on the mySandburg link in the upper-right corner. • Click “Login” (example login: jrsmith0105). • If you don’t know your password, use the link provided below the “Login” button. For assistance, contact the Help Desk at 309.341.5446. Graduation Students must petition to graduate to receive their diploma. If you will have enough credit hours to graduate at the end of a semester, contact Admission & Records at 309.341.5233, or ask your advisor for more info.
