Student Ambassador program The student ambassador program is a leadership opportunity for a select group of students who are dedicated to serving and representing Carl Sandburg College. Workforce Development & Community Education (WDCE) Sandburg’s Workforce Development & Community Education program offers non-credit, lifelong learning opportunities with youth programs, workshops, classes, educational day trips and events to enrich lives. The WDCE program serves as the primary contact for all inquiries from the business and industrial community and delivers courses that enhance employees’ skills and abilities to increase business productivity. Training classes may be held at the college or at the company’s location, depending on their needs. BECOMING A CHARGER What does a student ambassador do? • Develops an expanded knowledge of Sandburg. • Conducts campus tours for new students, schools, classes and guests. • Assists with the preparation and implementation of Charge Up! new student orientation. • Represents Sandburg during college events. • Assists with duties and tasks for events held by various Sandburg departments. • Works with diverse populations and provides tips on being a successful student. • Assists with a variety of office-related tasks. • Attends monthly meetings and required trainings. WDCE classes at both the Galesburg and Carthage campuses give community members an opportunity to learn new things, explore interesting topics and visit unique places. Youth programs are offered in the summer to give students a chance to challenge themselves, inspire learning and enhance their life skills while having fun in an environment free from homework and grades. Class suggestions and ideas are encouraged and should be directed to WDCE by emailing community@sandburg.edu. 25
