POLICIES AND PROCEDURES 44 No weapons policy Weapons of any kind are not allowed on any college property. Firearms are not allowed on any college property, except as provided by the Illinois Concealed Carry Act, 430 ILCS 66/65(a-5) (3) and 66/65(b). College employees are not allowed to carry any weapons while conducting college business either on college property or otherwise. For further information, please view the college policy at sandburg.edu/BOT. Right to privacy The college shall respect the right to privacy of any student who has a chronic communicable disease. The student’s medical condition is disclosed only to the extent necessary to minimize the health risks to the student and others. The number of personnel aware of the student’s condition is kept at a minimum needed to assure proper care of the student and to detect situations in which the potential for transmission of the disease may increase. Persons deemed to have “a direct need to know” are provided with the appropriate information; however, these persons won’t disclose such information. Emergency/weather campus closings & delayed openings When possible, closing decisions will be made by 5:30 a.m. for day classes and by 1 p.m. for evening classes. EMERGENCY/WEATHER CAMPUS CLOSINGS During campus closures, no one is allowed on campus for any reason. • No classes will be held virtually or onsite. • All offices and services including the library, fitness center, gymnasium, computer and health labs and practicums are closed, and all athletics practices and games will be canceled. DELAYED OPENINGS If there is a delayed opening, all classes beginning prior to the delayed start time will be canceled. All classes scheduled at or after the delayed start time will be held as scheduled. As a general rule in winter weather, allow extra travel time, and use caution when navigating winter roads, sidewalks and parking lots. Use your best judgment to decide if it’s safe for you to travel.
