                FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE (FYE)
Starting a new educational journey can be exciting and overwhelming. Whether you are transitioning from high school or returning after a few years of working, there are so many decisions to make and challenges to face. The First Year Experience program is designed to help students be successful in their first year of college life by providing a supportive, caring environment of educational and career services. The following services are provided to students in the First Year Experience Program:

LIBRARY-STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER
The Library, located on the first floor of the Library-Student Success Center building, is open to the public. However, only currently enrolled Compton Center students may check out materials or reserve books. Also available are library research instruction, library reference services, a Bibliographic Instruction Room, a lab for library research and group study rooms.
During the fall and spring semesters, the library is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The summer session hours are: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the library is closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The collection includes books, audiobooks, periodicals and access to research databases. Also available is a limited collection of textbooks on reserve for use in the library.
A library research lab, which is within easy access to a librarian, is available for students. Class orientations are conducted periodically when scheduled by an instructor, however, individual library instruction can be made available depending on availability of staff.
The Archive Collection
The Archive Collection contains valuable one-of-a-kind photographs, documents, memorabilia and materials related to the history of not only the Compton Community College District, but the City of Compton from 1927 to the present.
Art Gallery
Open to the public, the Art Gallery will periodically host a rotating series of exhibits and collections on loan from other institutions, as well as showcase student art.
