GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA)
Pay attention to your GPA from the start of the semester! GPA impacts academic standing, financial aid eligibility, program entry, transfer requirements, and scholarship requirements.
The following points are assigned to an earned letter grade for GPA calculation. The number of credits is assigned by course. For example, COL 105 is a 3-credit hour course.
A = 4 points B = 3 points C= 2 points D = 1 point F = 0 point
Step 1: Multiply the Grade Points by the Credits to determine the Grade Point
Value.
Step 2: Total the Credit and Grade Point Value columns.
Course Final Grade Points Credit Grade Point Grade Hours Value
COL105 A 4 3 12 ENG101 B 3 3 9 MAT120 B 3 3 9 BIO101 C 2 4 8
HIS102 A 4 3 12
TOTAL 16 50
Step 3: Divide the Grade Point Value Total by the Credit Total to determine a semester GPA. Numbers after the decimal are important!
50 grade points รท 16 credit hours = 3.13 GPA
