The Academic Calendar provides the official dates for payments, registration, exams, and semester start and end dates. The College also posts holidays, graduation, and other special events on the calendar. In addition to the academic calendar tab, there are also tabs for student and public events.
Student Complaints
The purpose of the student grievance procedure is to provide a system to channel and resolve student complaints against a college employee concerning decisions made or actions taken.
Students are encouraged to resolve academic grievances informally by discussing their concerns with the appropriate instructor and department head. Formal grievances may be filed in certain circumstances. For information about the grievance process, please see the “Student Grievance Procedure” section of the Student Code, which appears in the 2025- 2026 Student Handbook and Catalog https://www.gvltec.edu/catalog.
Will my parents have access to my grades and financial aid information? (FERPA)

In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), when a student reaches the age of 18 or is attending an institution of post-secondary education at any age, the rights of access to student records "transfer from the parents to the student," and the student has the sole right to his/her educational records. If information will be required by a third party, an Information Release Form must be signed by the student and placed on file with the Office of Student Records.
