Student Government Association
About Us:
The Student Government Association’s purpose is to serve and represent the student body at HACC.
We seek to provide the best experience possible for our students.
To fulfill this mission, we oversee and fund all clubs and student organizations. Through receiving a large portion of the Student Activity Fees, we choose how to spend our resources wisely and efficiently in order to enhance students’ experience on campus.
SGA provides:
● Professional Development
○ We offer a variety of experiences as an ever-expanding organization. Join one of our many departments where you can learn and apply real-life skills. Interested in marketing? Writing? Research? Event planning? No matter what it is, there is a place for you.
● Leadership Development
○ We believe leaders serve and are outward-focused. Through workshops, one-on-one mentoring, on- campus projects and committees, and community service opportunities, SGA provides plenty of
outlets to grow as servants while developing strong leadership skills.
● Student Representation
○ As students, we desire for our voices to be heard. At HACC, there are many opportunities for students to share their thoughts and ideas on a variety of policies that impact them. This is accomplished through student representation on shared governance and college- wide committees.
● Student Engagement
○ Studies have shown that getting involved on campus enhances learning in the classroom and
encourages a sense of community and purpose among students. SGA oversees and supports numerous clubs, organizations, and activities including academic organizations, interest-based clubs, community service opportunities, and fun events for all.
