Perfect Attendance
Perfect attendance at the high school is calculated by class. If a student misses enough time out of any class period so that the student is counted absent in the class, even medically excused, then that one class would nullify a perfect attendance record.
Types of Absences
Types I Absences-
Do NOT count toward the maximum allowable absences for courses (3
or 5):
Excused/lawful
Permission to make up work
Bereavement/Funerals *Immediate
Family Members
Documented with obituaries or funeral service programs
(3 days)
Chronic Illness (approved form must be on file)
Documented with parent note within 3 days stating absences were due to chronic illness
College/Military Visits Juniors & Seniors only Court Dates
Field Trips Homebound
ISS
Out of Classes for Testing
Documented with official letters (original copy)
Documented with court papers (original copy)
Documented by teachers Documented by homebound teachers and guidance counselors Documented by principals
Documented by teachers
Extraordinary circumstances
Written request by parents or guardians; must be approved by the Principal (in advance, if possible)
Medical/Dental Appointment
(classes will be coded according to time
indicated on medical note)
Documented on official stationery from certified health professionals
(original copy)
The students must be the patient.
Religious Holidays
Documented by official letter; required approval by the principal prior to the event
