I. Role of Disabled Student Programs and Services
The role of the Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSP&S) program is to assist the colleges in meeting federal and state obligations to students with disabilities. DSP & S is the primary provider for support programs and services that facilitate equal educational opportunities for students with disabilities who can benefit from instruction as required by federal and State laws. ** For more information, please refer to the Merritt College Catalog 2021 - 2022.
PRESERVING A DRUG-FREE ENVIROMENT FOR STUDENTS
Board Policy 3550 requires the Peralta Community College District to maintain campuses where students are prohibited from the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession, or use of controlled substances and from the use of alcohol.
SERVICE ANIMALS
The District will allow an individual with a disability to use a service animal in District facilities and on District campuses in compliance with state and federal law.
The District will allow an individual with a disability to be accompanied by his/her service animal in all areas of the District’s facilities where members of the public, or participants in services, programs or activities, are allowed to go.

I. Smoking: Definition
"Smoke or Smoking" means inhaling, exhaling, burning, or carrying any lighted or heated cigar, cigarette, or pipe, or any other lighted or heated tobacco or plant product intended for inhalation, including hookahs and marijuana, whether natural or synthetic, in any manner or in any form.
"Smoking" also includes the use of an electronic smoking device which creates an aerosol or vapor, in any manner or in any form. "Electronic Smoking Device" means any product containing or delivering nicotine or any other substance intended for human consumption that may be used by a person to simulate smoking through inhalation of vapor or aerosol from the product. The term includes any such device, whether
