INTERNAL AUDIT DEPARTMENT /// The Office of Internal Audit is here to support the USF community by evaluating and improving university processes. As part of
this mission, the Office of Internal Audit investigates suspected waste, fraud, or financial mismanagement at USF.
What is fraud? Fraud occurs when someone knowingly deceives others to achieve a financial or personal gain. Fraud can be committed by someone inside or outside an organization.
How is fraud detected? Fraud can be detected through routine audits and reviews, but the most common way fraud is detected is through tips reported to staff, management, audit teams, or reporting hotlines.
What is our responsibility? As members of the USF community, we all have a responsibility to report suspected wasteful, fraudulent, or dishonest acts to protect USF. Examples of these acts may include misreporting hours worked, altering official documents, misusing USF resources, or stealing funds, supplies, or equipment.
