Pathway to Success

Every student has the potential to be successful at Bakersfield College. The goal of the Pathway to Success Program is to help students at risk of failing design a pathway that leads to achieving their educational goals. Through early interventions, students can receive assistance in overcoming many barriers that block their path to academic success.
Students who find themselves on either Academic Probation or Progress Probation are aligned with the appropriate academic support services. These services provided are guided and structured and require a complete commitment by the student to follow the pathway, or plan, developed with the guidance of an experienced academic counselor, who also monitors the student’s progress. For example, in addition to completing the Online Student Success Seminar and attending an onsite Probation workshop, a student in probation status might be required to provide periodic Progress Reports, attend tutoring sessions, utilize the Writing Center, use the Math Hub or other structured tutoring services, and meet periodically with an academic counselor until they regain “Good Academic Standing” or “Satisfactory Academic Progress”.
No matter what your academic standing is, or how many barriers you face, we are here to help ensure your academic success. Because at Bakersfield College, failure is not an option.
