HONORS PROGRAM
The Honors Program is designed for exceptional students who excel in college. Honors courses are intellectually challenging and involve considerable interaction among students and instructors. Certification as a Carl Sandburg College Honors Program graduate requires that students participate in two Honors courses and complete an Honors Project.
There are many ways to be eligible to apply for the Honors Program. Students may apply if they meet one of the following criteria: a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher, top 10% of their high school class, a 25 or above on the ACT, a combined score of 1000 on the SAT, 12 college transfer credits with a minimum 3.25 GPA or a recommendation from a Sandburg instructor or counselor.
Through a new articulation agreement with Western Illinois University, students completing 12 hours of honors coursework at Carl Sandburg College may be eligible to transfer into the Centennial Honors College and graduate as a General Honors Scholar at WIU.
