OURI also supports students through their undergraduate and inquiry curricular efforts through Research Intensive (RI) course designation and Directed Independent Research (DIR) courses utilized to expand the practice of curricular-based research opportunities for students and allow documentation of student engagement in research on their transcripts. To reward students and faculty engaged in research activities, OURI recognizes involvement in undergraduate research and inquiry through annual university-wide awards: the Undergraduate Researcher of the Year for each college, and a college-wide Distinguished Mentor of the Year.
