                Disabilities (requires documentation of having an active accommodation plan on file with the Office of Student Disabilities). The classifications in the act for grant assistance are:
§ Individuals preparing for a nontraditional career field
§ Single parents, including single pregnant women
§ Economically disadvantaged students (receiving the Pell Grant or eligible federal or state program)
§ Out-of-workforce individuals (this is not current unemployment, but extended years out of the workforce)
§ English learners (English as a second language)
§ Homeless individuals
§ Students who are in, or have aged out of, the foster care system
§ Students with a parent who is a member of the armed forces and is on active duty
Financial assistance includes:
§ Textbooks (required, eligible CTE courses)
§ Program Kits and Tools (required for classroom and clinical instruction for required,
eligible CTE courses)
§ Uniforms (required for eligible CTE courses)
§ Credentialing Exam Fees (typically at the end of CTE program requirements when
graduating from the program)
§ Transportation (gas stipends based on mileage for face-to-face classes based on actual
attendance in CTE courses)
Program qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following:
§ Must be part of at least one special population outlined in the Carl B. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act
§ Must be enrolled in an eligible academic career and technical education (CTE) major (Associate of Arts and Associate of Science programs are not CTE programs and are not eligible for funding.)
§ Must be a returning Greenville Technical College student with at least 6 credit hours earned or a student transferring from another institution with a minimum of 6 transfer credit hours
§ Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each semester
§ Must be in good academic standing with the college
§ Must have a minimum 2.25 GPA (grade point average) to enter the program and
maintain a semester-to-semester GPA as required for graduation from the program
§ Must not be in default with a student loan
To apply:
• Complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available at www.fafsa.ed.gov (if you do not have one on file)
• Complete a PACT application (request application by email, PACTeducation@gvltec.edu).
