GPP-6204
1. A student, who becomes 19 years of age prior to July 1, 2009, will
not be eligible to compete in any athletic activities during the
school year.
2. A student must produce a valid birth certificate.
3. A student must live in School District 5 or else have lived in this
district and continued to attend this school after moving from the
district.
4. To participate in interscholastic athletic activities, students in
grades 9-12 must achieve an overall passing average in addition to
the following:
To be eligible in the first semester a student must pass a minimum
of five Carnegie units applicable toward a high school diploma
during the previous year. At least two units must have been passed
during the second semester or summer school.
To be eligible during the second semester the student must
meet one of the following conditions:
a.
If the student met first semester eligibility requirements, he
or she must pass the equivalent of 2 units during the first
semester.
b.
If the student did not meet first semester eligibility
requirements, he or she must pass the equivalent of 2 1/2
units during the first semester.
5. A student may not participate after having spent 8 semesters in a
school from the time entrance in the ninth grade occurred.
6. Loyalty to teammates and coaches is vitally important. In cases
where a team member is being disloyal, the head coach has the
right to remove the team member.
Each sport has a set of requirements beyond the general requirements
already presented, such as off-season workouts. It is vitally important
that all potential athletes understand that it is the policy of the athletic
department to encourage participation in all the sports one is qualified
to play. Specialization in just one sport is discouraged if a particular
athlete can be successful in other sports offered. (See web page TBA.)
Athletic Teams
Baseball:
Official practice begins at the end of January. Baseball
season ends in May. The team members are encouraged to take part in
various summer league baseball teams. Varsity and junior varsity
teams are available for all boys in grades nine through twelve.
