At Penn State Altoona, a full-time internship coordinator works one on one with students, faculty members, and community organizations and businesses to facilitate internships. Several bachelor’s degrees require a senior-level internship. For others, an internship may count as the major’s “capstone” course. Exploratory internships are available for sophomores and juniors, as well. REGISTRAR altoona.psu.edu/registrar E130 Smith Building | 814-949-5035 | AA-REGSTAFF@lists.psu.edu The Registrar’s Office provides friendly and dependable service to our students in the areas of registration, records, and other related processes, including: • scheduling/course information • change of major • change of campus • re-enrollments and withdrawals • final exams • graduation • senate petitions (such as retroactive late drop) Further information is available on our website about topics including the academic calendar, student forms and procedures, degree programs, and transfer credits. VETERANS AFFAIRS altoona.psu.edu/veterans C105 Smith Building | 814-949-5282 | jxf15@psu.edu Penn State Altoona values the contributions that veterans and active duty service members make to the classroom and to the University. The Veterans Affairs Office assists students in accessing their education benefits through one of several programs. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) makes the final determination regarding eligibility of a student to receive education benefits. For more information or to apply for benefits visit www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/. Once a student applies and qualifies for VA education benefits, he/she will receive an Award Letter or Certificate of Eligibility from the VA. The receipt of the letter from the VA does not automatically begin the payment process. Students must submit a copy of the letter to Penn State Altoona’s Veterans Affairs Office. PDFs of the Certificate of Eligibility can be emailed to jxf15@psu.edu along with the admissions application or PSU ID. Upon submission of the Certificate of Eligibility, the student will have other forms to complete. While a student only needs to apply to the VA once, campus forms must be completed every semester to receive benefits. Other Information • Once the VA approves a student for education benefits, the student must request to use their benefits each semester. The instructions and link to the form are at altoona.psu.edu/offices-divisions/academic-affairs/veterans-education benefits/forms/student-instructions-requesting-gi-bill-education-benefits 11
