COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
GER 112 Elementary German II (3-0-3)
Prerequisite: GER 111
This course is a continuation of GER 111 focusing on the fundamental elements of the Ger-
man language within a cultural context. Emphasis is placed on the progressive development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and respond with increasing pro ciency to spoken and written German and demonstrate further cultural awareness. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a general education course in Humanities/Fine Arts.
GER 181 German Lab I (0-2-1)
This course provides an opportunity to enhance acquisition of the fundamental elements of the German language. Emphasis is placed on the progressive development of basic listen- ing, speaking, reading, and writing skills through the use of supplementary learning media and materials. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and respond with grammatical accuracy to spoken and written German and demonstrate cultural awareness. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
GER 182 German Lab II (0-2-1)
Prerequisite: GER 181
This course provides an opportunity to enhance acquisition of the fundamental elements
of the German language. Emphasis is placed on the progressive development of basic listen- ing, speaking, reading, and writing skills through the use of supplementary learning media and materials. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and respond with increasing pro ciency to spoken and written German and demonstrate cultural awareness. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
GRAPHIC DESIGN
GRD 110 Typography I (2-2-3)
This course introduces the history and mechanics of type and its application to layout and design. Topics include typographic fundamentals, anatomy, measurements, composition, identi cation, and terminology. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate pro ciency in design application, analysis, speci cation, and creation of typographic elements.
GRD 121 Drawing Fundamentals I (1-3-2)
This course increases observation skills using basic drawing techniques and media in graphic design. Emphasis is placed on developing the use of graphic design principles, media appli- cations, spatial considerations, drawing styles, and approaches. Upon completion, students should be able to show competence and pro ciency in  nished works.
GRD 131 Illustration I (1-3-2)
Prerequisites: ART 131, DES 125, or GRD 121
This course introduces the application of rendering techniques to create illustrations. Em-
phasis is placed on controlling various media, methods, surfaces, design problems, and the appropriate media selection process. Upon completion, students should be able to produce quality illustrations from conception through  nished artwork.
