CAREER SERVICES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA
As a USF student, you are already taking your first step to pave the way to a successful and fulfilling life-long career!
The past experiences and achievements that got you into USF are the foundation on which you will build. By engaging in robust classroom experiences and participating in internships, part-time jobs, research opportunities, and student organizations, you will gain a wide range of career-related skills and experience that employers look for in new hires.
It all starts by understanding how your major fits with your life after graduation plans and goals. If you’re not sure, our team has professional staff members who are here to help you explore and make sure you’re on the right track. They can show you a whole world of possibilities that are related to your chosen major.
Once you’re settled into your major, it’s time to make sure you’ve set up your Handshake account. Handshake is the online system we use to share jobs, internships, and information about all of our upcoming events. It’s free (even after you’ve graduated) and super easy to use!
Of course, no one wants a basic Handshake profile, so come on over to begin building or updating your resume. We offer a number of services and resources to help you with resumes, cover letters, and interviewing tips. You can find all of those details on our website.
Throughout the year, our career fairs and special events help you connect with employers who are ready to hire you! These events are open to all students and are usually focused on opportunities of a specific type, for a specific major,
or within a specific industry. All our upcoming events are posted in Handshake, so log in often to learn more and see which employers are coming to campus.
Our office also offers many great ways to build your experience, land internships, find on- or off-campus part time employment, and develop your skills for the real world! We even offer a Career Readiness Badging Program as a way to showcase your skills to future employers!
We’re here to help you grab your future by the horns!
