Degrees & Formal Awards
WNCC offers two-year programs leading to one of four associate degrees: Associate of
Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, and Associate of Occupational
Studies. One- and two-year certificate and diploma options are available in selected
fields, as well as professional skill awards.
Dropping Courses
Students may drop a course without penalty up to five (5) days after the initial meeting
of the class during the fall and spring terms by completing the appropriate form in the
Student Services Office. For summer term and 8-week classes, students may drop a
course up to three (3) days after the initial meeting of the class.
After the “No Penalty Drop Period” ends, students may
only
drop a course after obtaining
the signature and the “Last Date of Attendance” from the instructor on the appropriate
form and then returning the form to the Student Services Office. The student may or
may not receive a refund, depending on the percent of time expended (see “Refund
Policy”). Students should refer to the WNCC website for instructions on dropping an
online course. The instructor will issue a grade of “W” for the drop.
Learning Resource Center
LIBRARY
Information Services assists students in identifying, locating, and using resources
in an increasing variety of formats. The library collections include approximately
25,000 books and more than 200 periodical subscriptions. Students also may access
information electronically from the Internet and digital databases. When students
need additional materials, WNCC arranges to borrow materials from other libraries
through the OCLC interlibrary loan system. Computers, including word processing
software, are available on each campus. A knowledgeable staff is ready to help
students with all of these resources in Alliance, Scottsbluff, and Sidney.
The WNCC Library is located on the Scottsbluff Campus with a branch location at
Sidney. The Alliance Public Library shelves WNCC materials and welcomes students
at that site.
The WNCC library offers a large selection of electronic and print resources that
support the curriculum and student learning. Electronic resources are available
across all three of WNCC’s campuses. Off-campus access is available to current
students, faculty, and staff. The libraries are also open to the public. Library materials
can be searched and accessed through the library web page. The library also offers
magazines, newspapers, and DVDs as well as laptop and tablet computers that are
available for student, faculty, and staff check out. Interlibrary loan is available to
students, faculty, and staff for items not found in the library collection.
The libraries in Scottsbluff and Sidney have computer labs that offer a range of
software as well as printing. Quiet study is encouraged throughout the library.
Librarians are available to assist students with research, citations, and using the
library’s resources. Support is also available by email, chat, SMS text messaging, and
phone.
