I avoid discussing my career plans with family and friends because I get a lot of mixed signals, which leave me feeling frustrated and confused. I spend a lot of time thinking about my career plans, but can’t move from thought to action. I’m not comfortable committing to a career unless I’ve had some experience in that field. I’m afraid that once I choose a career, a better option will come along and I’ll be stuck with a bad choice. I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle the demands and responsibilities associated with the majors and/or careers I’m considering. I’m very decisive and make decisions quickly. Once I make a decision, I don’t change my mind. I’m too young to choose what I’ll do the rest of my life, so I plan to take “gen-eds” at Sandburg and decide later. 28 CAMPUS SERVICES Career counseling services Choosing a career and an appropriate college major can be daunting.
