  5 TIPS FOR ADVISING BLISS
1. Be on time--For drop-in advising or for a scheduled appointment, please be
on time. If you are going to be late, or need to cancel, please call or email your advisor.
2. Come prepared--Keep all of your academic records in a notebook. Bring this with you to all advising sessions.
Do not bring your academic records on your phone, tablet, or computer. Bring a list of questions you want answered.
3. Turn off your cell phone--Do this before you enter your advisor’s office.
4. Take notes--Bring paper and pen. Don’t ask your advisor to provide this.
5. Don’t procrastinate--Get advising
in advance of your registration appointment. Don’t expect your advisor to clear your hold because your registration appointment is in 10 minutes.
ACADEMIC STANDING
Students with low grade point averages are
required to get academic advising. Advising yyHave you met the pre-requisites for the

yyAP Statistics--you get credit for STA 120. yySee the AP chart for other AP tests
and course equivalents; www.cpp.

yyCPP needs to receive your AP score report
for you to get credit for your AP tests. Score reports must come directly from the College Board.
yyCheck your Transfer Credit Report (TCR) to see if your AP test scores have been received and posted.
yySee your academic advisor if you have any questions.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Can’t register for classes? Here are some common problems and their solutions. yyDo you have a hold? Check Bronco
 holds will be placed on your registration if you fall into one of the following categories. For the complete policy, go to the University Catalog, click on Academic Policies, and look for Academic Standing.
yyAt Risk--GPA falls between 2.0 and 2.2 yyProbation--GPA falls below 2.0 yyDisqualification--GPA falls below 1.5 for
freshmen, 1.7 for sophomores, 1.85 for juniors, or 1.95 for seniors.
AP TEST CREDIT
yyAP English Language & Comp--you get credit for GE area A2.
yyAP English Language & Lit--you get credit for GE area A2 and C3.
yyAP Calculus AB--you get credit for MAT 114; this is a higher level math so you won’t need to take MAT 105 or MAT 106;
course? Check the university catalog.
yyHave your AP scores been posted to Bronco Direct? See your Transfer Credit Report. If not posted, see the Bronco Advising Center, CLA 2nd floor.
yyDo you need a permission number? See the course instructor or the department administrative coordinator.
yyNot any of these? See a Peer Advisor in 2-125. They are your best resource for questions regarding registration.
ADVISING TERMS & TOOLS yyAcademic Disqualification--A
student will be placed on academic disqualification if their GPA falls below the minimum for their grade level. Example: Freshmen = below a 1.5 GPA. An advising hold will be placed. See university catalog for complete policy.
yyAcademic Early Warning--A student will be placed on early warning if their GPA
is less than 2.2. An advising hold will be placed.
If you have taken an AP test, and scored 3 or better, then you may have earned credit for a CPP course. Some of the common AP tests are listed below.
