                ADVISING
  MY PLANNER
My Planner is an online tool for students to enter their academic plan. Advantages to using My Planner include:
yyProvides an easy format for you to create
an academic plan.
yyAssists departments with scheduling
courses to meet student demand. yyIntegrates with the schedule builder in
Bronco Direct to make registration easier
for you.
yyHelps your academic advisor advise you.
More information is available on the My Planner web site, including a video and tutorial, at www.cpp.edu/myplanner.
STAY ON TRACK
Be proactive! Follow these recommendations to keep on top of your academic life.
All Students--Each Semester (15 units):
yyMake any final adjustments to your class schedule during add/drop period.
yyPrint out your class schedule and put it in your planner.
yyIdentify books, web sites, study aids, and classroom locations for each class.
yyDetermine when and where finals are. Hint: should be listed on the syllabus for each class.
yyIdentify your registration appointment for next semester on Bronco Direct.
yyCheck for and clear any holds that would prevent you from registering for the next semester BEFORE the general registration period.
yyRegister for classes during the General Registration period.
yyPay fees for next semester on time (or you will lose your classes!).
yyCheck your grades on Bronco Direct. yyCheck Degree Progress Report to see that courses completed were applied
correctly.
yyUpdate your academic plan and My
Planner.
yySee your academic advisor if you have
questions or concerns.
All Students--When Needed:
yyFall Semester--If you took courses at another college during the summer, request a transcript be sent to CPP. Check Transfer Credit Report and Degree Progress Report to see that courses are posted.
yySpring Semester--Decide if you will be attending summer school at a community college; research deadlines, classes, and pre-requisites; apply for admission; use www.assist.org to make sure classes are transferable.
yySophomores--Research internships and senior projects.
yyJuniors--Take the GWT after 75 semester units are completed.
yySeniors--Complete the Graduation Application online during your last semester
New Students--Fall Semester:
yyEnroll in your major’s first year experience course.
yyCreate your academic plan, enter on My Planner, and print out a copy.
yyFind out who your advisor is. Check with your department or the Student Success Center.
yyMeet with your advisor to get your academic plan approved. Make any changes.
yyApply for CPP Pledge, if you qualify. yyCheck Transfer Credit Report and Degree
Progress Report for AP/IB credit and/or
college courses transferred in.
yyExplore department clubs and teams for
leadership and career development.
THE ADVISING PARTNERSHIP
Academic advising is a collaborative partnership between a student and an advisor, both having responsibilities for the outcome.
The Student:
yyFamiliarize yourself with your major curriculum.
yySee your advisor on a regular basis. yyBe prepared for each advising session--
