Take the English and Math Placement Tests in SSC 217 (No appointment is
needed).
Make an appointment to meet with an academic counselor to declare a major and
complete a comprehensive educational plan.
Enroll in an eligible degree or certificate program. For a list of these programs
visit the Financial Aid web page.
Select your refund preference from BankMobile. A personal code will be mailed
to you in a green envelope after you have been awarded certain types of financial
aid.
Check your district-issued ECC email account regularly as this is the primary
method of communicating with students.
Verify that you are making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) by maintaining
a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better and a cumulative completion rate of 67 percent
or better of all attempted units and not exceed 150% of your eligible program
units.
If requested, submit all documents to the Financial Aid Office.
Check your
MyECC
account regularly to check your email, check your status,
review your award letter, see if you have a fee waiver, view your financial aid
award by term, pay for parking and other fees, update your address, or to
communicate with the Financial Aid Office.
Visit the Financial Aid Web page weekly for updates, review FATV videos, and
other timely and important information.
Review the disbursement schedule online at the Financial Aid web page.
Pay any outstanding balances on your student account online, via mail or in
person at the Cashier’s Office.

Preparing to Apply for Financial Aid

Gather the necessary financial related documents and complete the FAFSA worksheet.
Visit
and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
online by March 2. Many financial aid programs are a first-come first-serve opportunity,
therefore students may apply as early as January 1 each year. Completing and submitting
the FAFSA is the first step in applying for financial aid and this application is used to apply
for all types of federal and state financial aid, including scholarships.

Students, parents, and borrowers are required to use an
FSA ID
, made up of a username and
password, to access certain U.S. Department of Education websites. Your FSA ID is used to
confirm your identity when accessing your financial aid information and electronically
signing your
federal student aid
