Financial Aid and Scholarships
Financial Aid: Introduction
There are a number of financial aid programs to help offset certain educational costs. The
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the California DREAM Act
application may be accessed and completed online at

respectively. Students may apply as early as October 1. The priority
deadline for consideration of the Cal Grant is March 2 of each year.
Financial Aid: Scholarships
To be considered for an ECC scholarship, all students are encouraged to complete the
FAFSA. For information, contact the Scholarship Office online at

Financial Aid: Hours
The Financial Aid Office is open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5:30
p.m., on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Office
hours are subject to change, especially when students are not scheduled to be on campus.

Financial Aid: Types of Aid & Eligibility
The Financial Aid Office participates in various federal and state financial aid programs.
Federal financial aid regulations require students to be enrolled in a minimum number of
units (see below) and to demonstrate financial need on the FAFSA to be eligible for most
programs.
Federal Pell Grant Program (minimum 0.5 units)
Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG) Program (minimum 6 units)
Federal Work Study (FWS) Program (minimum 6 units)
California Grants (Cal Grant, EOPS, CalWORKs) Program (minimum 6 units)
The El Camino College Financial Aid Office will review and determine the amount of
federal aid that a student has earned in accordance with federal law. Students who receive
federal financial aid and who do not attend any classes will be required to repay all of the
funds they received.
