ARTS AND THEATER
ART GALLERY
Helen S. Smith Gallery, (HL) 1st Floor 253-833-9111, ext. 4213 www.greenriver.edu/community/art- gallery
The college proudly features the Helen
S. Smith Gallery, which is located across
the hall from the main entrance of the Holman Library. Art exhibitions and events presented throughout the year are free. For more than 50 years, the gallery has featured the work of emerging and established Northwest artists, art faculty, and Green River students. Many Northwest greats
had their first exhibitions right here in our space! Each exhibition features a reception and often a talk, a panel discussion or programming by the artists. The annual spring Student Art Exhibition has become a campus favorite, featuring art from students at all skill levels and in all media.
VISUAL ARTS ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM
Salish Hall (SH), Visual Arts Studios 253-833-9111 ext. 2695
Each year the Visual Arts hosts a visiting artist in one of five different areas: ceramics, design, photography, art history, drawing & painting. The visiting artist spends the week working on art projects, presenting their work in artist talks and an exhibition, and leading a workshop. The artist in residence program provides an excellent opportunity to see first-hand how an artist works by watching their process, participating in interactive works, and having conversations. The college community and the community at large are all invited to participate.
