Northeast State Student Planner & Safety Handbook 2017-18 - page 18

Trigger Warning: Suicide. Many college students experience periods
when they feel lonely, anxious, or depressed that can lead to thoughts of
self-harm. Seek help when you or someone you know exhibits one of
these warning signs:
Feeling hopeless, helpless, or having no interest in life
Sleeping too much or not at all
Appearing depressed or sad most of the time
Withdrawing from family and friends
Feeling strong anger or rage, acting impulsively
Abusing drugs and/or alcohol
Sudden changes in performance in school or at work
Harm to self is an emergency situation. On campus, contact Campus
Police at 423.677.7927 or 9-1-1 or Counseling Services at 423.354.2587.
Free 24/7 lifelines provide support and information to anyone in
suicidal crisis or emotional distress. Text the word “TN” to 741741 or
call 1.800.273.TALK (8255).
Take threats
of suicide seriously
and call for help.
