RAD is the acronym for Rape Aggression Defense. The Northeast State
Police Department offers a free, three-day RAD Basic Self-Defense
Training program for female students, faculty, staff, and community
members in partnership with the College’s Health Services.
RAD training helps to establish skills and viable options of realistic self-
defense tactics and techniques. This program is a comprehensive course
that develops heightened senses of awareness, prevention, risk
reduction, and risk avoidance. Students are able to practice the skills
learned by participating in a dynamic hands-on aggression simulation
at the end of the course. The goal of this optional simulation is to give
students a feeling of empowerment.
